Members of Full Throttle Biker Church were working to pick up the pieces after Pleasant Garden was struck by powerful Labor Day weekend storms.

Instead of their usual Sunday service, 16 volunteers helped neighbors clear debris from yards, particularly for people who cannot do the physical labor themselves. Debbie Hinshaw, a church member, said the group needs to go out and do what it can for people, noting that even simple help matters. They were not alone: volunteers and families were hard at work across the area, including Michael Bradshaw of N. Bradshaw Builders, who cleared trees that fell through one home, tarped the roof and described the damage as pretty massive for the area, estimating $60,000 to $80,000 in damage to one home and about $100,000 to another.

Bradshaw, who helped clean up after Hurricane Hugo in 1989, said this weekend's damage stood out for the area.
