Trailblazer Challenge invites families to explore 10 Henry County parks

Henry County families looking for a low-cost outdoor activity can take on the Trailblazer Challenge, an all-ages program built around 10 parks, trails and recreation sites.

Participants visit each featured location, complete a simple photo prompt and post the picture on Facebook or Instagram using #TrailblazerChallengeHC while tagging Henry County, Virginia. The county says anyone who completes all 10 stops will be contacted about receiving an exclusive Trailblazer Challenge T-shirt.

The stops include Jack Dalton Park, Collinsville Jaycee Park, Jordan Creek Park, Doe Run Park, Fieldale Park, Gravely Nature Preserve, Fieldale Walking Trail, Dick & Willie Trail at Ally’s Alley, Smith River Sports Complex and Philpott Marina. Prompts range from a volleyball pose and pickleball snapshot to a bridge photo, boardwalk walk and dockside moment.

There is no special equipment requirement, and the challenge is open to all ages. Participants should review the county’s rules before posting; the county notes that submitted social photos may be used in future promotions.
