Lynchburg Regional Airport has been awarded an $8 million federal grant to expand its passenger terminal.
The funding comes through the Federal Aviation Administration's Airport Improvement Program for fiscal year 2026. U.S. Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine announced the award as part of nearly $19 million for airport projects across Virginia. Airport officials say the expansion will widen the TSA exit lane, add an ADA-compliant elevator and improve passenger flow.
Airport Director Cedric Simon said the investment will help the airport better serve today's passengers while planning for future growth.
