Martinsville-Henry sets April 18 hazardous waste drop-off window in Bassett

Martinsville posted on March 4, 2026 that a regional Household Hazardous Waste Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Bassett Service Center in Henry County.

The notice lists common items residents can bring, including solvents, paints and stains, motor fluids, batteries, and paper for shredding, while excluding items such as televisions, compressed gas cylinders, and tires.

For families across the Martinsville-Henry corridor, the practical value is safe spring cleanup timing before warmer-weather yard and home projects increase disposal demand.

Officials also framed the event as a compliance and safety step, helping keep hazardous materials out of regular trash streams and reducing neighborhood fire and contamination risk.
